Jagility: Cooperative Hunting
Jagility is above all else, fun. It is an interaction and communication process between the handler and the dog. Unlike other nosework events, Jagility allows the handler to be part of the process of finding the hides, navigating the obstacles and setting the pace.
Jagility also offers a fun, interactive way to build confidence not only in you and your dog as a team, but in your dog's interactions with the environment, objects, obstacles and other beings. Jagility promotes concentration, attention, engagement and courage. Because of the nature of cooperative hunting and it's evolutionary roots, Jagility builds communication between handler and dog, improves the relationship and strengthens the bond.
There are no rigid specifications and each course can be customized for the age, behavior issues or disabilities if any for the dogs trialing. Training courses should also be set up in the same way. This rich variety also increases your dog's attention. To find solutions, but also the overcoming of fear situations and uncertainties promotes bonding and trust in the partner.
On leash or off, Jagility is a sport for every dog and handler.
